Enrollment in the accelerated course includes a state or the art computer based ground training program from King Schools, the industry leader in Computer Based Instruction. Our use of the Cessna multimedia Private Pilot Training System, "Cleared
For Takeoff" makes sure you are ready for every flight lesson.

This system combines your
flight training and ground school into a integrated series of lessons
and labs.
Before each flight you will see
a video demonstration of everything you will do in the air with your
instructor.
Because your ground school and
flight lessons are paired together in a logical manner, you will learn
quicker, retain more information, and always be prepared for your next
flight lesson.
This ground-breaking multimedia
system uses video, animation, graphic effects and a little humor to
guide you through the process of skill development and knowledge
required of a private pilot.
How long will it take to get my Private Pilot Certificate?
The FAA requires a minimum of 40
hours of flight training to be eligible for certification. Our three week course is designed to include 50 hours of flight time to provide a more accurate estimate of total cost. The accelerated program requires the student to fly every day for the entire three week period. Plan on two 1.5 to 2 hour flights per day, with home study for the checkride at night. We suggest that the student completes the computer based training course before attending the program. Completing the "ground school" ahead of time will allow the student more time to focus on flying.
What are the steps to get my certificate?
Prepare for the written
test. In order to move most smoothly through the program, we suggest that the student comes to Zone prepared to take the written test. We have a CATS testing center on site for your convenience. Additional "test prep" time with an instructor can be scheduled at the standard ground instruction rate if desired.
Dual Instruction.
The majority of the hours flown in the beginning will be with a
certified FAA flight instructor. During this time you will be introduced
to maneuvers and skills required to develop into a proficient pilot.
Acquire a FAA medical
certificate. In order to complete the program in the required timeframe, the student will be required to have a medical certificate before arriving for the program. We can assist you in locating an Airman Medical Examiner in your area.
Solo Flight Training. When
you are ready... Your instructor will set you free to make your first
solo flight. During this phase of flight training you will go out on
your own and fine tune your skills. During this period you will build
the confidence necessary to become a proficient pilot. You will remember
that first solo for the rest of your life!
Cross Country Flight. Not
as daunting as it sounds, but you will, with the supervision of your
instructor, travel solo from your home airport to one or more airports
and back home. These exercises will ensure your ability to fly and
navigate safely.
Oral and Practical Test.
Once you meet all the flight training requirements and you instructor
believes you are proficient... you are ready for you "checkride". This
check ride is composed of a oral examination and a hands-on flight in
the aircraft with an FAA designated examiner. The check ride examines
your knowledge, practices and proficiency at the contols of the
aircraft.
What type of aircraft
will I fly?
Here at Zone Aviation our
private pilot students train in current model Cessna 172SP Skyhawks. Our
oldest aircraft is a 2005!

Zone Aviation currently operates 4 Cessna 172 SP aircraft. Two are
equipped with the Garmin G1000 "Glass Cockpit" pictured above, and two
are current model with a traditional 6-pack panel. Either way you go,
you're flying the latest and greatest with Zone!
What is Included and What Does it Cost?
Below you will find a chart that outlines the cost of flight training and materials for the accelerated program. The hotel we have arranged includes breakfast and a shuttle service to and from the airport. If you require a rental car we will need advance notice, plan on approximately 200 dollars per week for a rental car.

What Other Expenses Will I Have?
There will be other miscellaneous expenses associated with flight training. The largest additional expense you can expect is the cost to buy a pilot's headset. A basic headset can be bought for around 150 dollars, with the most advanced headsets available costing nearly 1000 dollars. If you are unsure of what type you need, your instructor would be glad to assist you. You should also plan on spending some additional money on books, reference materials, and other supplies.
